  • Carnival (6-7), smaller than Carnival in Port of Spain, and more of a community affair 
  • Tobago invaded by weary masqueraders and guests from Trinidad, chilling out after the mas' 
  • Turtle nesting season begins: from now until July, endangered turtles return to ancestral beaches to lay their eggs in the sand 
  • Public holiday on March 30 (Shouter Baptist Liberation Shouter Day)

April

  • Goat and crab racing at Buccoo on Easter Tuesday (and at Mount Pleasant the day before). The jockeys guide their groomed and beribboned charges with rope and stick. The crab racing can take quite a while . . . 
  • Carib International Game Fishing Tournament at Pigeon Point (11, 12, 14) 
  • Public holidays on April 21 (Good Friday) and April 24 (Easter Monday)

May

  • Angostura /Yachting World Regatta - four days of heady racing, mostly between Crown Point and Grafton, with "lay day" entertainment in between, including traditional races for Tobago's "bum boats" 
  • Public holiday on May 30 (Indian Arrival Day)

June

  • Public holidays on June 19 (Labour Day) and June 22 (Corpus Christi) 
  • St Peter's Day (29, St Peter being the patron saint of fishermen) is a time of big celebration; one of the biggest events is in Charlotteville

July

  • Tobago Heritage Festival (mid-July to early August): Tobago's folkways on display in the villages

August

  • The Great Race, annual powerboat classic, from the Yacht Club in Trinidad to Store Bay in Tobago: big crowds and plenty of festivity 
  • Public holidays on August 1 (Emancipation) and 31 (Independence)

September

  • Tobago Fest, Carnival-style festival 
  • Carib Tobago Cycling Festival 
  • Tobago Open Golf Tournament

October

  • Sea Festival at Mount Irvine

December

  • Christmas Day (25)
