in the Afghan community come together to perform a
program of rarely heard folk songs from various regions
of Afghanistan. Featured are the popular singer Vaheed
Kaacemy, who comes from a famous family of musicians;
Quraishi, who has helped to preserve and reinterpret
Afghan music and rekindle interest in the Rubab (a
short-necked lute that is the national instrument of
Afghanistan; and Chetram Sahni (Dohl), a master of folk
